UTSCA & Texas THON Partnership

We are pleased to announce that this year UTSCA Council will be partnering up with Texas THON!

What is Texas THON?

Texas THON is a student-run philanthropy organization that raises funds to help kids at the Dell Children’s Hospital. Our goal is to provide clubs with an easy way to get the volunteering requirement out of the way while helping you support a great cause here at the university.

We are planning on organizing events that will combine the love that we have for our sports with the great cause that Texas THON stands for. By participating, clubs will get a variety of volunteering opportunities and fundraising events which will make completing ACP requirements much easier. We are hoping to see as many of you join!

Create or Join a Team

Every club will have an option of joining as an individual sports team or UTSCA combined team. Club officers can decide which option is best for their organization based on the number of people interested.

Volunteer at Events

For the events such as the upcoming “Family & Hospital Field Day,” we would like to get clubs to bring some of their equipment to introduce kids and their parents through various games and activities to the sports that we have on campus.  A couple of examples:

    1. Tennis club- bring tennis balls and rackets, and teach kids how to play.
    2. Fencing club- bring plastic blades for kids to play with and try fencing.
    3. Sailing- make an activity with buckets of water and little paper boats.
      1. Creativity is a must! Opportunities are endless!

Participate at THON

In the spring semester, Texas THON hosts a Dance Marathon in which students participate in various activities for 12 hours with the purpose of fundraising money for the children. We are hoping for clubs to participate in a marathon with performances showcasing their skills and dancing abilities.
