Step 2 : Assignment
Resource: STEM ED 102_Practices.docx
I teach Step 2. My students have taught one lesson and some have completed 1 observation, while others have done 2. (At BSU we only do 2 lessons and 2 observations). I decided to keep things simple for my course. I'm also not doing synchronous teaching with this class. Each week I am sharing one page with tasks to complete. I have a "Read This", "Watch This", "Do This" section for the topic of the day. (I got the idea for the simplistic format from the UTeach newsletters) Topics I will be covering include the NGSS and CCSS practices, Teaching with Technology, Discussion Strategies, and Data Driven Instruction. I am having them all plan lesson 2 and for the final project which is now impossible, I am having them record themselves practice teaching the engage/explore/explain portion of their lessons and post to Blackboard for comments and feedback from peers. I plan to have them analyze some data for the Data Driven Instruction topic since they won't get to for the Final Project
I'm attaching my assignment for class this week. I shared with my students via Google Drive. (The videos for Observation 2 are my Apprentice teachers and they gave me permission to share if anyone else needs to use them)
I read this article and it gave me a new perspective on this situation. Our students are stressed, and we have to keep in mind that this course is only one credit.
Best of luck,
