CoE Classroom Troubleshooting








1.  Control Panel

On the control panel, you have a power button, input selection, and volume control. There is also a sticker at the top of the touch panel with contact information if you need help after you have tried all of the steps that we have provided.

The power button is located at the top right. Please be sure to power off the system when you are finished. 

→ Input Selection

On the Touch Panel to the right, we have it programmed so that you can just press which input you would like to use.









On this Touch Panel to the right, we have it programmed to where you have the drag and drop feature. You will need to press and hold the icon of whichever input you would like to use and drag it to the display that you want the input to be on. Release the icon.

If you are having connectivity issues when connecting with a laptop (screen flickering, discoloration, audio coming and going), there may be an issue with the adapter/dongle connecting to the laptop. Try a different adapter/dongle or output on the laptop and see if the issue is resolved. If the issue continues, the problem may be the HDMI cable that goes into the secured cabinet to the system. → Volume Control

On both programmed Touch Panels, there is a slider located on the right side of the screen to adjust the volume of the selected input. On the drag and drop programmed Touch Panel, you will need to select which input you would like to have playing.












Once you have selected the input, the speaker will illuminate blue to let you know that is the audio that you have selected. The non-selected audio input will not be illuminated.

If all of the steps above have been completed and there is still an issue with your image or audio, please proceed to the next troubleshooting tips.































2.  Processor

If you are still having issues with the image deploying or audio, it is recommended that the system be reset. To do this, you will need to press the HW-R button. This process may take a couple minutes to re-initialize.












On the processors, there is a HW-R button. On this DMPS-100-C, it is located on the left of the processor. 

You will need something small to press the HW-R button to reset the hardware.



















3.  Displays – Projectors

If you are still having issues with receiving an image through the projectors, please look at the lights located at the side of the projector by the network cable. If there are not flashing lights by the network cable, then the system will not work. If you do have lights, proceed to the next step.











On the front of the projector, you can have 3 kinds of lights:

  • If you are getting no lights at all, then there is no power to the projector. 

  • If you have a red light where it says “Stand By,” you may need to power cycle the projector (see next step).

  • If the light is green and you are still not receiving an image, contact us at 471-4357 or help@edb.utexas.edu











You can power cycle the projector by turning the power switch located on the side of the projector off. Wait a few seconds, and turn the power switch back to on. It will take a moment for the projector to warm back up.



If any other lights are on on the front of the projector (Temp or Lamp), please contact us at 471-4357 or help@edb.utexas.edu.






























4.  Displays – TVs

If the image is not displaying to the TV, check the input selection to make sure it is set on the appropriate source.

If the TV is on the correct source and you are still having displaying issues, try to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable behind the TV.

Behind the TV is a Crestron device. This device may need to be power cycled if issues are still occuring. You can power cycle the device by unplugging the power cable to the device and plugging it back in.

5.   Built-In Mac Mini Troubles

  • Log In Issues

If the previous User did not log out of the computer you will need to power cycle the Mac Mini. You can do so by...

  1. Turning the computer off and on again.

  2. Locate the DVD drive slot in the rack; you need to press and hold the button all the way to the right of the DVD drive for 5 seconds to shut down the computer. Then press power button again to turn the Mac Mini back on.


  • Computer Not Working Properly/ Lock image displayed on the screen

If you are having issues with the built-in computer such as the computer may be frozen or there is a lock icon on the screen where you would normally login, please try the following...

  1. Turning the computer off and on again. Locate the DVD drive slot in the rack, and the button all the way to the right of that is what you need to press and hold down until computer shuts down. (5 seconds) Then press power button again to turn the Mac Mini back on.

  2. Contact ITO Help: 512-471-4357 If the computer will not shutdown.


6.   Cabinet Power

  • Power Switch

    The power switch at the bottom of the Cabinet (part of the Tripp-Lite) should be glowing red when it is flipped on. If it is not glowing red, there is likely an issue with the power plugged into the floor socket.

    Check underneath the cabinet to see if the plug is plugged into the cabinet. If it is it is either an issue with the socket itself, or the extension cord. Use a power detector to see if there is power running through the socket. 

    • If there isn't power then it is a facilities issue and there is nothing more we can do. 
    • If power is running then you might need to replace the extension cord. If that doesn't work then it must be an issue with the Tripp-Lite itself, in which case you should contact Smart as there is nothing more you can do at the moment.
