Setting up Call Pick Up Groups for office workgroups on Polycom 335 phones

In the old VoIP system, call pickups of a main office lines were managed by dialing 77 from a designated phone or phones within the office.   After the transition to the new VoIP system on campus, this process is a little different.   Follow the steps below to activate this service.

  1. Create a work request with Telephone Services by filling out their web form at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/tn/tr/index.WBX
In your request, identify the main number you want to be picked up and then in the ProblemDescription/Details section ask for a Call Pick Up Group for that number and list the other phone numbers you want to have that pick-up ability.

2. Once the Call Pick Up Group is created, you'll be notified by ITS Telephone Services that the service is now active. The pick up keys are 66 plus a three digit code specific to your Call Pick Up Group. To pick up the main line from another phone, pick up the handset, dial 66 and the three digit code.

Set up a softkey shortcut: Instead of dialing five digits to pick-up the line, you can set up a soft key shortcut by doing the following:

1. On Polycom 335 phones with one line, hold down the Line 2 key until you are presented with a data entry screen for speed dial contact info:
2. Scroll through the different fields using the arrow up and down arrow buttons. Select the field you want to edit by pressing the center "check" button. You can label your speed dial or soft key with either the first name, last name, label fields or all three. The only other required field is the contact field which is where you enter the

3. In the Contact field enter the five digits for the Call Pickup option, 66 plus your three digit Call Pickup Group number.

4. Click OK, and then the back (left arrow) to get a Save option. Save your setting.

5. You are done. The Line 2 speed dial for Call Pickup Group should be on your home screen now.
