AVID - How to Work with Phone Footage Shot Vertically

To adjust Vertical footage you need to use the "Source Browser" in AVID

Right click on the clip and choose "Source Settings"

Bring the files into AVID

In the open BIN right click in the bin and go to

>Input>Source Browser

Navigate to your file where you downloaded it (probably in downloads folder)

 

Choose Link NOT Import

 

Select your target Bin and choose LINK again

Click on the Red X to close the source browser

 

 

Set the Frame Flex settings to

Raster Dimensions and Image Size should match the image settings of the file in our example we have a 2160 x 3840 image

Set Image aspect ratio to 9:16 for vertical video

Pixel aspect ratio 1:1 (Spare pixels)

Frame aspect ratio Project (16:9)

X = 0

Y = 0

Size = 100

Z Rotation = -90 (try both 90 and -90) depends

Set the Reformat to Center Keep Size or Pillarbox/Letterbox try both

Also make sure that the red outline on the frame is stretched out to all corners of the image so nothing is cut off

Click on Apply to apply

Then use like any other Master Clip

 

Then click on Apply and OK to save the changes
