It is highly recommended that if you have any SSL certificates that are going to expire anytime before Jul 17, 2026that you renew them as close to the end of June 2026 as possible - so you have plenty of time before the next renewal is due (Late June 2026 renews to Late November 2026 to December 2026).

PLEASE NOTE

This page is a work in progress. It will be updated to include more information and guidance moving forward. Please check this page in the future!

InCommon is a U.S. research-and-education–focused trust and identity organization. It provides identity and access management services for universities, research institutions, government, and partners. Its services include federation, certificate services, and related trust infrastructure.

From the websiteCertificate Service Transition

CertiNext will be the new platform provider for the InCommon Certificate service. CertiNext is well known in Interoperable Global Trust Federation (IGTF) and the certificate industry more generally.  The service needs to evolve to meet the community’s changing expectations. We’re updating and modernizing it to better serve current needs while also positioning it for the future. All TLS web certificates will need to be migrated off Sectigo Configuration Manager by February 2, 2027.

Detailed Timeline:

The certificate service transition began April 7, 2026, and will conclude with our transition off of Sectigo Certificate Manager on July 17, 2026. CertiNext, the new InCommon Intermediate CA, will be issuing 199 day certificates through December 31st. Sectigo Certificate Manager will continue to be available to issue 199 day certificates through July 17, 2026.
