UTBox Sync Setup

Day 2 & Pics.docx

What to fill in the UTBox window that pops up on your desktop:

  1. When you log into your computer in the morning, you should automatically see a Box login prompt.  **If you do not see this prompt as soon as you log in, please notify LTS immediately!!

  2. Inside this dialog box, hover your mouse over Use My Company’s Credentials and click.

  3. IMPORTANT:  In the Email Address field, enter your email address in this very specific and unusual format:  Use your UT EID at the front (not first initial, last name) and “eid” before .utexas—no “law”:  YourUTEID@eid.utexas.edu, (i.e., jdoe253@eid.utexas.edu).  Then click the blue Log In button.

  4. Now use your usual UT EID and affiliated password in the familiar UT login screen, then click Login.

  5. You will be presented with a Box Sync dialog box that will probably display “Scanning” and/or “Syncing” for a short while before changing to “Synced.”

  6. Once you verify the “Synced” status, click the folder icon on your task bar near the lower left of your screen to open Windows Explorer so you can browse your files.

  7. Near the upper left look under Favorites and make sure you see a folder called Box Sync.  If you do not see this right away, give it a few minutes before notifying LTS of the problem.

  8. Search for your personal (not departmental) network drive folder under This PC>law, (NOT THE SHORTCUT UNDER YOUR FAVORITES SECTION!!) with your first initial, last name and drag the entire folder into your Box Sync folder. This will recreate it entirely on UTBox. If you have other files on your C: drive, you can choose to move those as well into your UTBox individual folder (first initial, last name) now that you have just set it up in Box Sync.  Do not worry about any department files—they will become available for you tomorrow.

  9. When your folder finishes copying to your Box Sync folder, it will display a tiny orange circle in the lower left corner to indicate it is in the process of syncing with UTBox online.  You can minimize this window to work on other things—just be sure to leave your computer on (locked is okay) until you’re able to verify the orange circle has turned blue.
