Services for Students with Disabilities [SSD]

Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) ensures students with disabilities have equal access to their academic experiences at the University of Texas at Austin by determining eligibility and approving reasonable accommodations. They also engage in outreach across campus in order to make campus a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment for people with disabilities.

• Accommodations are provided on an individual basis in order to address the barriers that impact a student’s ability to learn, participate and perform in the educational environment.
• SSD communicates a student’s approved accommodations via letters that are requested and delivered by the student to their instructors. After receiving an accommodations letter, instructors have up to 5 business days to provide the approved accommodations to allow time for any administrative planning that may need to occur. 
• SSD provides additional information for the accommodation process including examples of some accommodation request, for reference.
