USE OF CORPORATE LOGOS ON McCOMBS BRANDED MATERIALS

The use of corporate logos on McCombs branded materials is based on rules and regulations issued by the University of Texas System Board of Regents, and on policies of UT Austin’s Brand, Trademarks, and Licensing Office and the Office of Student Activities.

No Endorsement: Corporate logos should not be used in a way that suggests the university or school endorses a corporate entity or other non-UT organization.

No Sales Promotion or Expression of Sponsorship Views: Do not display or promote a corporate sponsor’s products or services or express the views of sponsors relative to political issues or other matters of public importance or interest.

Sponsors Can Be Acknowledged: Sponsors may be acknowledged on printed and promotional items for donation of services or products or for financial or research support to the school. Terms such as “sponsored by,” “supported by,” or “special thanks to” should be used. “Partner” or “partnership” should not be used as this implies a legal relationship. List the sponsor name in the same font as other surrounding text. Corporate logos may be included on printed materials and websites, but not on promotional items.

Approvals required: Student organizations must pre-approve all designs with their program’s student affairs director. If university or McCombs logos are used on promotional items or on the website of any outside entities to show sponsorship (by any group), permission must be obtained from UT Austin’s Office of Brand, Trademarks, and Licensing. Submit written requests outlining the relationship with McCombs along with a PDF of the proposed designs to the Internal Request Portal.

PRINT

Corporate logos may be used on printed materials.

If corporate logos are used, they must be the same size as the McCombs logo, or smaller.

Companies recruiting at McCombs can be identified in printed materials with their corporate logo.

The name of the sponsoring department at McCombs must be included.

DIGITAL

Corporate logos may be used on web pages if the event or program being promoted supports a McCombs program, department, or research center (through funding, facilitation, or supervision).

The supporting organization name must be listed on the web page.

Corporate logos should not exceed 160 pixels x 125 pixels and may not be larger than an official university logo on the same web page. They should generally be placed near the bottom of the page, or on a separate sponsor recognition page, in a size appropriate to the assistance and support provided.

Corporate names or logos may link to a general corporate website that does not directly promote products or services for sale.

PROMOTIONAL

Corporate logos may not be used on promotional items, such as T-shirts, caps, pens, and other giveaways, which also contain McCombs or UT Austin logos or icons.
