UT HERD Basics

UT HERD is the database used to maintain and track all lab safety related info:

• Training records

• Inspections and violations.

• Lab members.

• Chemical inventory.

• Biosafety permit and animal protocol numbers.

• It can be accessed here using your EID and password.

Lab manager has access to all info.

Lab manager must request each lab member to be given access to HERD.

• Generally, lab members are only given access to chemical inventory.

Biosafety and animal protocol info is added to the account/updated by EHS; we do not do it.
