Equipment Maintenance Schedule
Weekly:
Check/Clean gaskets in all -80°C Freezers Rm 1.132, 1.122
Add Liquid Nitrogen to Cell Culture Tank to cover boxes. Alarm is not repairable. So, adding a little of LN2 weekly is a consistent and easy way to keep it in order.
Test eyewashes in 1.124 ; 1.106 and 1.128 (cold room)
Initial Log once a month only
Fill tip boxes
Really done as needed, usually done by those who is using tips the most
Check biohazard and send request to EHS or autoclave Biohazard bags if needed
Dishes
Undergrad duty (but all senior technicians need to be familiar with that, if undergrad needs to be trained)
Re-Fill containers for 1.5ml, 0.5ml tubes
This is done as needed
Check water baths
Check water carboys and fill as needed
Oocyte group will help with this
Monthly:
Log Eyewash Test
Flush filtration system in 1.106
Autoclave testing
Corina Hernandez will drop off the testing vials and form. There is a change how these tests are conducted:
Note: Notify Corina (chernandez@austin.utexas.edu or call her 512-475-9722) as soon as you remove the test pack from the autoclave, the test pack needs to be placed in the incubator as soon as possible after going through an autoclave cycle.
The test will no longer be valid if greater than 72 hours. You will need to repeat any tests that are not valid.
Every few months:
Vacuum Filters on -80°C Freezers using wet-dry vac in autoclave room
Every 6 months
Service pre-filtration system filtering tanks
Yearly:
Service to e-Pure water filters (as needed, once system not holding 18mO
Balance calibration
PM on centrifuges
Autoclave water carboys. Remove spigots and take them apart, rinse well, dry, place in beaker cover with foil and autoclave. Cover spigot opening of carboy with foil and autoclave.
Change Silicone beads in all desiccators
Defrost Freezers
