Department Chairs
Do Department Chairs need to submit timesheets in Workday? No.
"Department Chair" is an Administrative & Professional (A&P) title, which normally requires the submission of timesheets in Workday, and earns vacation time. However, in the College of Education, department chairs are appointed at 0% on the A&P position, retaining their primary faculty position(s) at 100%, and so do not earn vacation nor need to submit timesheets.
Exception: all faculty (including department chairs) should report use of sick leave by submitting timesheets in Workday, following the instructions in the Request Sick Leave - Faculty - Workday Instructional Guide (W.I.G.)
Associate Deans
Do Associate Deans need to submit timesheets in Workday? Yes.
"Associate Dean" is an Administrative & Professional (A&P) title requiring submission of timesheets in Workday, in proportion to the percentage of the appointment that is Associate Dean (as opposed to faculty). For example, if an employee is appointed 50% Associate Dean and 50% Professor, then they should submit timesheets in Workday based on their 20 Scheduled Weekly Hours (SWH) Associate Dean appointment.
A&P positions are 12-month staff positions, and earn vacation leave if they are benefits-eligible. Nine-month faculty positions do not earn vacation leave.
Both benefits-eligible faculty and staff positions earn sick leave, and should report use of sick leave by submitting timesheets in Workday, following the instructions in the Request Sick Leave - Faculty - Workday Instructional Guide (W.I.G.)

- Enter Time - Exempt Employee
- Enter Time - Part-Time Employee Guidance, for part-time employees (or employees reporting fewer than 40 SWH in Workday) including instructions on using time balances that are not in .25 hour increments
