UT Ready

A disaster is a sudden or uncontrollable event that causes severe disruption, damage, or harm. These events may be natural, such as hurricanes or pandemics, intentional, such as terrorism, or unintentional, such as a broken pipe. Pre-planning needs to occur to mitigate the severity of the disaster and aid in the recovery. These plans are vital to know who to contact and how to handle these various events.

The University of Texas at Austin uses a cloud-based software tool developed by Kuali for disaster planning. The software can be accessed via UT Ready at https://utexas.kuali.co/ready. This document is designed to help new users navigate through the UT Ready tool and serve as a reference guide to existing users.

Each department or unit may have one or more staff assigned to work on their DRP. It is required that each department review their plan each year and make any necessary adjustments. If you have been newly designated to update a plan, create a plan, or have general questions, you may send an email to please send an email to drp-project-help@cns.utexas.edu, and an administrator will contact you.

It is important for every department and every specialized unit within a department to review their disaster recovery plans on an annual basis. New plans should be created as new units/labs come online. CNS OIT will be available to help with any questions concerning new or existing plans. CNS OIT will add DRP preparation to every project they are involved with and aid each unit through this process.
