Deity TC - SL1 Smart Slate - How to Sync Video and Audio Equipment Timecode

This wiki is designed to walk you through how to sync timecode between the Deity TC-SL1 slate, a video camera, and an audio recorder. We will be utilizing a Sony FX9 and a Sound Devices 633 field recorder.

First, download the Sidus Audio App to your smart phone device. There is an app for both Apple and Android This will be our "master" that all of our Deity devices will sync to.
You will also need 2 Deity TC-1 Timecode Generators - one for syncing the video camera, and the other for syncing the audio recorder. Make sure all the devices are charged either with batteries and or USB charging The buttons can be confusing to first-time users, so please reference the manual here. Page 5 is where you can find the button layout.
The SL-1 Slate also has the same kind of button layout with an additional on/off switch. The manual can be found here
Once the app is installed on the phone the devices won't sync unless you reset the Bluetooth Next step Sync the devices to the app on the phone Lets start with the slate Turn is on
Then press the flywheel on the side of the slate 3 times quickly to unlock the menus
Once unlocked use the scroll wheel to go to the bluetooth icon and select it.
Select RESET and YES to reset the Bluetooth. The “SUCCESS” message indicates that the reset is complete.
Once you've reset the bluetooth on the slate then on the app on your phone select Add by selecting the grey box with the plus sign. The slate should show up in the app now that you reset it
Power your 2 Deity TC-1 by clicking the yellow side button Then unlock the auto lock so we can access the menus by pressing the yellow button 3 times quickly
Scroll over to the bluetooth icon

Then on the app on your "bluetooth enabled" phone Click the Add Devices and once the TC-1 is reset it should show up as a device you can add on the phone They should pop up on this screen. Select them and press Set Up button when prompted
Connect the TC-1 devices to their respective recorders
First, plug in the TRS to BNC cable, with the TRS end going to the TC-1,
and the BNC end going to the Timecode in/out port on the FX9 make sure you plug into the correct BNC input on the FX9 TC OUT / TC IN not the Genlock REF
Be sure to have the timecode selector on the FX9 turned to the "In" position.
Now, change the frame rate in the TC-1 device to your desired frame rate. You want to match the TC-1 to the FX9's frame rate. On the TC-1, triple click the yellow button to unlock the menu
Then use the scroll wheel to the frame rate selector, then choose your desired frame rate. Most likely will choose 23.98 Repeat this process on the other TC-1.
On the TC-1, now go to the "Out Type" selector and choose L-Out. Repeat this step on the other TC-1.
On the FX-9, go to the menu and go to TC/Media > Timecode
Under "Run" select the Free Run option. Your FX9 should now be synced with the Deity ecosystem.
For the Sound Devices 633 audio recorder, plug in the TRS to 5P cable, with the TRS end going to the TC-1, and the 5P end going to the 633.
Power on the 633, and press the menu button just underneath the power switch. Go to Timecode > Timecode Mode, and select Ext-TC/Cont This will automatically sync your 633 to the Deity device. If there is a desync failure on set, the "Cont" option ensures that the 633 will continue to run timecode independently, instead of stopping timecode altogether. You should now see the 633 chasing timecode with your Deity devices.
In the app, you can select different devices to be the "Master" device. Our recommendation is to make the SL-1 Slate the master device.	(Insert Screenshot)
Finally, make sure you press "Sync All" on the main page in the app after you are done making changes.
