To access the PRC-managed server, you need to meet the following requirements.  If you have any questions or issues with these instructions, please email help@prc.utexas.edu.

Requirements for Remote Access

  • A UT EID or a project server user account., depending on what project server you will access.
  • Set up UT VPN client.
  • Set up UT DUO for a mobile device.
  • Windows 10 - Remote Desktop Connection App.  The App is built into Windows 10.
  • Mac - Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 App for Mac available from the App Store.

Getting Accessing to a Project Server

  1. If you do not have a UT EID, a PRC acco, or a project server account, please get in touch with your project manager to have them request you an account.
  2. If you have a PRC account or a project server account and don't remember your credentials, please check Stache.  User account information is shared using Stache.
  3. Make sure you have set up DUO.  Access to the project server requires two-factor authentication using DUO.  If you have issues setting up DUO, please get in touch with the ITS Helpdesk at 512-475-9400.
  4. Make sure you have the UT VPN client installed.  If you are using your personal computer, you will need to install the UT VPN client. If you are using a PRC-managed desktop, please submit a request to help@prc.utexas.edu to have the UT VPN client installed.  All PRC-managed laptops already have the UT-VPN client installed.
  5. Set up a remote connection to the project server.  Refer to the Setting Up a Remote Connection.
