Purpose

This page explains what you need to do to become level 1-certified and gain access to the facility

Introduction

In order to obtain card swipe access to the IRC, you must first become Level 1-certified.  Level 1 training typically is offered only during IRC Safety & Training Week (S&TW).  Read about how to register for the classes on the S&TW wiki page.  Users must attend a 1-hour class in the BIC and pass a quiz immediately after the class. The training is composed of a safety tour of the IRC, a demonstration of how to use the most important safety features of the equipment, and an explanation of how to screen MRI research subjects.  A requirement of maintaining Level 1 certification is your subscription to the bicc-res e-mail list.  After attending the Level 1 safety training, you will be automatically subscribed to the bic-res list.  If you unsubscribe from this list, you will immediately lose access to the BIC, and your Level 1 certification is revoked.

Directions

  1. Log on to UTLearn
  2. In the search bar type IR 101 and then select either NHB or HDB depending on the location of the MRI you will be working on.
  3. Click on the pertinent class link.
  4. All the upcoming training dates will be listed.  Click the date of the one you would like to attend. If there are no training dates listed, then we have not set the dates for a new safety week.
  5. Near the bottom of the page that loads, if there are no classes listed you, you can click "Notify Me of New Sessions" or click the class that will work best for your schedule.
