Julie DiCarlo joins BIC as MRI Staff Scientist - 22 Feb 2022

Hi BIC Community !!

I am delighted to announce that BIC has a new member of the team – Julie DiCarlo has joined us from Tom Yankeelov’s group in the CCO to fill the role of MRI Staff Scientist.

Julie received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, where she focused on the development of pulse sequences, image reconstruction pipelines and the design / construction of MR microscopy coils for quantitative cardiac MRI. She has over 20 years of experience in the development of advanced quantitative imaging methods and spent 10 years designing imaging studies for phase 2 and 3 clinical trials, as well as advising pharmaceutical clinical scientists on the analyses of imaging data for these trials. She joined the Center for Computational Oncology at UT Austin in 2018 to focus on the development and improvement of quantitative MR imaging methods for cancer detection and therapy prediction modeling. Julie joins the BIC as the MRI Staff Scientist, to support our users across a broad range of projects including the development and implementation of new MR methods and protocols on our 3T and 7T systems. Her personal imaging interests include optimizing the tradeoff between spatial and temporal resolution for quantitative imaging, and techniques for mitigating image artifacts and improving image quality and consistency.

Please join me in welcoming Julie to the team – her background and expertise is a great fit for this key role in the Center. She will be your principal point of contact for all things MR-related and will primarily be based in HDB.

Best wishes,

Doug
