Vinyl Wrap
We had to vinyl wrap a line of our sponsors on the bottom shell of Daybreak because we did not get the bottom shell fully vinyl wrapped in time before unveiling. This article gives tips and tricks on how to vinyl wrap if you are doing it your self.
Step-by-step guide
Put the vinyl wrap on the car without taking the backing off and tape it in place where you want it to go
Mark out the area that you are vinyl wrapping with a shiny marker
Sand the area within the vinyl
Apply the vinyl like you would a screen protector
Notes:
Do not use a heat gun on logos because they will stretch and distort. Okay to use on background color and may be able to correct it if there are lots of air bubbles and ridges forming.
Start on the top or bottom edge and go to the other edge as you work across
Do not work from the middle out
Taping helps
Once it's distorting, go vertical
If you want to move vinyl wrap up or down then use the squeegee at angle
EDIT: Do not do the above. That's how we messed it up. It may be above the guide but you just need to commit. If it's off, either go with it or take the whole thing off. Trying to curve it up or down to conform to your guides is what causes issues. Go really fast, keeping your fabric wrapped plastic wedge fully vertical and moving it back and forth fast and efficiently. Just move it back and forth the whole time and move quickly. For sharp curves you may have to change directions to remove air bubbles.
