[wip] 2022-24 BPS Setup Steps

Step-by-step guide

Safety first

BPS Leader setup guide:

  • GitHub: https://github.com/lhr-solar/BPS-LeaderPCB/tree/master

  • PCB: https://github.com/lhr-solar/BPS-LeaderPCB/blob/master/BPS-LeaderPCB.PNG

  • Connect 12V and GND to J6

    • Don't turn the power on until setup is complete

    • A green LED next to the buck converter will indicate that 5V power is connected

  • Connect Amperes to BPS-Leader

    • J8 of Leader connects to Amperes

    • J2 of Amperes connects to Leader

    • Connect Leader J8 to Amperes J2

  • Connect the Minions to Leader

    • There are three minions but IsoSPI is daisy-chained so only one Minion needs to be connected to the Leader

    • Connect J5 of the Minion to J7 of the Leader

  • Connect nucleo (Flashing and debugging code on an MCU)

    • J5 is the SWD connector

Battery Voltage tap setup guide

  • Check the voltage of the voltage taps

    • We want to ensure that the voltage taps are properly connected

    • Measure the voltage between each connection through a multimeter (should be close to 3.5V)

    • Ensure that the probes don't touch

  • PCB: https://github.com/lhr-solar/BPS-MinionPCB/blob/master/BPS-MinionPCB.PNG

  • use the power switch on the Minion to turn off the Minion

  • Find the GND of the Minion board (on J2)

  • Plug the Voltage connectors into J1 and J2

    • Ensure that you know which wire is GND (usually indicated by a different color)

  • Connect the minions

    •

      • The minions are daisy-chained

        • J5 is the In connector and J6 is the Out connector

      • Connect the Out of one Minion to the In of the next minion
