SolidWorks Installation Guide
System Requirements
Operating System: Windows 10, or 11 (64 Bit)
For Mac users, contact your lead for options
Processor: x86_64 (Intel 64 or AMD64)
Disk Space: At least 64 GB
RAM: At least 16 GB (Recommended 32GB)
Dedicated GPU (Not required but recommended):
Uninstalling Existing SolidWorks (if installed)
If SolidWorks is currently installed, follow these steps before installing a new version. Otherwise, skip to the Installation section.
⚠️ Before beginning, uninstall any other versions of SolidWorks. Running multiple versions simultaneously can cause issues.
Save your settings:
Click the Settings gear icon in the toolbar → Save/Restore Settings → save settings to an easily accessible path.
Run Installation Manager:
Search for
sldIM.exe→ Run Installation ManagerClick Modify Installation
Uncheck Serial Number and Deactivate current license
Unselect all products → Uninstall all products
Note: You may need to first update/install SP 5.0 version before uninstalling.
Installing SolidWorks
Download Installer:
Go to SolidWorks Community Download
Fill out the form → Request download
Run the downloaded
.exefileNote: You may have to unzip before running
If a reboot required message is shown, press OK
Start Installation:
Choose Install on this computer
Enter the serial number found here: https://cloud.wikis.utexas.edu/wiki/spaces/LHRSOLAR/pages/480215049/Installation+Keys+and+Logins#Solidworks-2025
Do NOT share this serial number outside of LHR
Do not check any other serial number boxes
For multiple installations, clear with your system lead or upper management
Note: This serial number is different from 2024
Select Products:
Only install the following:SOLIDWORKS
Optional:
eDrawings
SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation
Visualize
Download & Install: Follow the prompts to complete the installation
Activating SolidWorks
Once installation completes, click Activate Now
Enter your email address and agree to the terms
Restore your saved settings from the path you previously saved
File Locations and Libraries
SolidWorks will use these paths to search for and populate libraries. All paths should be saved on Bild/SW PDM/SVN (currently Bild PDM).
