What Apps do I have access to?
Your UT M365 account gives you access to so many great tools! These include OneDrive, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Clipchamp, Loop, Forms, and More!
For more about what M365 apps you have as a student, see: Eligibility for Microsoft 365.
I'm a student worker, how should I use Microsoft 365 for University business?
Email: Your supervisor should provide you with access to a shared mailbox if your job duties include receiving and sending emails.
Files & Documents: All work related to your job should be created using university tools and saved in a departmental file storage location, such as SharePoint.
Microsoft Teams: It’s recommended that work communication be in a Team rather than direct messages or group chats.

Your activities for your role as a UT student are separate from University business you conduct for your role as a student worker. Records and Information Management Services (RIMS) and Enterprise Technology recommend students workers do not use their student M365 mailbox or OneDrive to conduct University business on behalf of a University department.
For questions about records management requirements for University records, including email, please reach out to Records and Information Management Services.
Please contact the Service Desk with any additional questions or concerns.
How do I forward my Microsoft 365 email?
For instructions on how to set up email forwarding, please visit Forward Your Email.
How do I change my display name?
To update your chosen or preferred name, use the Name Management System at Manage Chosen Name.
To update how your name appears in Microsoft 365 applications including Teams and Outlook, update your Display name in the UT Microsoft 365 Management Portal.
How can I hide my Microsoft 365 account?
Other UT M365 users will be able to see your profile, such as when searching in Teams or Outlook, by default. Visibility of non-employee students is otherwise dependent upon the same criteria that hides or shows them in the UT Directory.
If you do not wish to appear in the UT Directory or Microsoft 365 address lists, you can restrict access to your directory information by visiting Restrict My Info.
If you wish only to hide your account in Microsoft 365, you can make your account hidden in Microsoft 365 apps under My Services in the UT Microsoft 365 Management Portal.
How is my Microsoft 365 account different from UTMail (Google)?
Your Microsoft 365 account is your official student email and is automatically created for you. A UTMail account is an additional, optional email that you can create.
For more information on the differences between Microsoft 365 and UTMail, see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
What happens after I graduate?
Once your UT EID is classified as a former student, you are no longer eligible for a Microsoft 365 license and you’ll automatically lose access to your UT Microsoft 365 account. This typically means you’ll retain access until the 12th class day of the long semester following your graduation.
After a waiting period, your Microsoft 365 account and all its contents will be permanently deleted.
Losing your license means losing your data. Export anything you want to keep before your affiliation ends.
For more information, see Eligibility for Microsoft 365
Login using either:
Your UT EID email address, (yourEID@eid.utexas.edu)
Your Microsoft 365 email address (for students, yourEID@my.utexas.edu by default)
And your EID password.
