Video Field Log & Reflection

Resources:

At UTeach Dallas, we also made it through LP 1, but not LP 2 or three.  We created a video collection that students can watch to make up any missed hours.  We also have a spreadsheet with discussion questions (one per 15 min of video).  Students will make up what they need and use the form to log their field hours.  (see attached)  We will use it for all missed time in all field courses.

Step 2 ideas: Note- all lessons are going to be done on Blackboard Collaborative (works like zoom or WebEx).  We switched to digital interactive notebooks this year. All students have a notebook set up in a shared folder in OneDrive that we have been using in class.  We can send them virtual “glue ins” and they reflect in their notebooks.  We are also using our Blackboard discussion board.

Data Driven decisions:  We will send students three work samples (one good, one medium and one low per EdTPA).  We will discuss and practice giving quality feedback to students.  We will also discuss how data is used to make instructional decisions.  Students have an article on their discussion board about PLCs.  They must reflect and reply to other responses.

Inquiry:  We will watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BL1eXzKFDo which is an inquiry lesson on chemical propulsion.  Discussion on levels of inquiry and we will rate it on an inquiry continuum in our digital notebooks.

Direct Teach Model lesson:  We will use Nearpod to do a shortened version of our Direct teach lesson.  We have embedded websites, quizzes, 3D manipulatives and go on a virtual field trip.  There is a notebook piece to go with this.

Reading in the content area:  In the past we have used an in class jigsaw with google slides (expert groups, teaching groups)  I think we are going to try to set up groups in Blackboard collaborative to make this happen.

For my lesson writers, I think I will just set up some digital office hours and let them pop in and out as needed.

We are working on the final project.  The idea is to use Flipgrid to present their lessons to their peers and to write a reflection piece.  Clearly they will just be able to do an overview, but we still want them to get the performance practice in.

Things are evolving daily, but hopefully this gives someone a few ideas.
