About the Program

Welcome to the Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering!

Our graduate program is known worldwide for developing students into leaders in engineering practice, research, and education.  We welcome applications from highly qualified and motivated students for the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.

Rankings

Our graduate programs are routinely ranked among the top ten in the U.S.  Our many research centers provide graduate students with the opportunity to explore their areas of interest and to be a part of a supportive, intellectually stimulating community. With state-of-the-art facilities, the CAEE graduate program is designed to educate engineers who will be at the forefront of the profession in industry, academia, civil service, and beyond.

Applicants are expected to have an undergraduate degree in engineering. However, exceptional candidates with other undergraduate degrees can be considered for admission, but will be required to complete additional undergraduate leveling courses prior to beginning graduate work.  The typical leveling courses will depend on the student's background.

The department offers the Master of Science in Engineering degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is offered only in Civil Engineering. Applicants interested in graduate studies in Architectural Engineering should apply to Civil Engineering.

Areas of Study

Within the CAEE graduate program, students are asked to choose from one of our areas of study:

Each academic area that offers a graduate degree has a Graduate Studies Committee, a group consisting of all the assistant, associate, and full professors who are active in that graduate degree program. The Graduate Studies Committee recommends students for admission to the program, sets program-specific requirements for the graduate degrees in that area, and recommends students for admission to candidacy for degrees. Graduate education is the responsibility of the members of Graduate Studies Committees.

Each academic and research area faculty maintain specific requirements for their students in addition to the general degree requirements outlined by the Graduate Catalog. Two GSC members serve as the Graduate Advisors, to advise graduate students and represent the Graduate School in matters pertaining to graduate work in that program area.
