Kiln Firing Schedule + Rules

Want to fire work? All you need to do is:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the firing schedule
  2. Leave your dry bisqueware or glazed ceramics in the appropriate space on the "to be fired" rack in the sculpture classroom
  3. Fill out the kiln firing sheet completely (see below)
  4. Once fired, your work will be left out on the "fired" rack.

Firing Rules:

  • Please fill out all requested information on your kiln firing sheet. If you are missing information, your firing will not be guaranteed.
  • Firing will adhere to this schedule. Custom firings are generally not accommodated.
  • Your work must be finished and completely dry. The sculpture technician reserves the right to not fire work that seems wet.
  • You must have initials or a name on the bottom of your work.
  • You must leave 1/4" between glaze and the bottom of your pieces.
  • Only the sculpture technician is authorized to run the kiln.

Do not:

  • Load the kiln yourself without written permission from the sculpture technician.
  • Program or fire the kiln yourself.
