PDS Admission Requirements: College of Education

    • General PDS Admission Requirements

    1. If you are not currently enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, admission to the university is required. Please be aware that you may be admitted to the PDS but not admitted to the university due to the different application periods. If you are not admitted to the university, your PDS application is void.

    2. You must submit this PDS application by the deadline.

    3. You must complete the essay included in the PDS application.

    4. You must meet and maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) set by your program.

    5. You must complete with a minimum grade of "C" the prerequisite courses set by your program.

    Program-Specific PDS Admission Requirements

    1. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on all coursework taken in the BA/BS

    2. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on all coursework in your certification area

    3. Completion of the mandatory PDS Advising Meeting to review remaining course requirements and ensure eligibility

    You must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in all UT Austin coursework at the time of application and maintain it prior to beginning the PDS.

    1. You must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in all UT Austin coursework at the time of application and maintain it prior to beginning the PDS.

    2. You must complete all of the prerequisite courses listed below with a minimum grade of “C” prior to beginning the PDS:

      • SED 322 Individual Differences

      • SED 376 Foundations and Issues in Special Education

      • ALD 327 Sociocultural Influences on Learning

      • TD 302 Arts Integration

      • PSY 304 Child Psychology

        • or HDF 313/113L Child Development and Lab

          • or EDP 350G Adolescent Development

            • or EDP 350E Intro Life Span Development

              • or EDP 358D Emotional and Behavioral Disorders

    • You may have no more than two classes remaining outside of the PDS.

    1. You must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in all UT Austin coursework at the time of application and maintain it prior to beginning the PDS.

    2. You must complete all of the prerequisite courses listed below with a minimum grade of “C”:

      • M 316K Foundations of Arithmetic

      • ALD 320 Cognition, Human Learning, and Motivation

        • or ALD 321 Play in Early Childhood Development

      • ALD 322 Individual Differences

      • ALD 327 Sociocultural Influences on Learning

      • ALD 329 Acquisition of Language and Literacies

        • or ALD 325 Second Language Acquisition

      • KIN 314 Children’s Movement

    3. You may not have more than two classes remaining outside of the PDS.
