Computer Surplus Procedure
The LAITS Fleet Management team assists university faculty, staff, and research labs we support with end of life computer retirement.

Surplus Overview
LAITS coordinates the surplus of UT Inventoried standard computer equipment for supported customers per University requirements
Our standard process consists of:
Customer request for surplus pickup / customer drop off at a LAITS Service Desk
Transfer via CCART of customer assets to a LAITS unit code (removes the asset from departmental inventory)
Hard Drive removal /wipe (dependent on computer model)
Second CCART transfer to Surplus
Coordination of pickup by Surplus
LAITS accepts computers, computer accessories and monitors for surplus. Computer accessories, furniture and other items are the responsibility of the department.
All furniture or other office equipment should be retired by submitting a Pick Up Request with Facilities Services.
