Overview

Purpose: The Undergraduate Catalog of the University is the document of authority describing academic programs, general regulations, and degree requirements. This page is a guide to the process for updating the Undergraduate Catalog for programs in Liberal Arts during the Undergraduate Catalog legislative season, which begins in the Fall semester of each even-numbered year, to take effect for the following even-numbered year.

 

 

The College of Liberal Arts is now accepting proposals for the next Undergraduate Catalog

Guidance for proposing, amending, or deleting degrees, majors, minors, certificates, honors programs, or integrated BA/MA programs

The Undergraduate Catalog 2028-30

  • At the beginning of each Fall semester in an even-numbered year, Chairs and Directors should consult with their unit’s Faculty Curriculum Committee, to propose changes to their credentials:  degrees, majors, minors, certificates, or honors programs, for consideration by the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Curriculum Design and Assessment (CDA) committee. 

  • The College of Liberal Arts will post proposals, once approved by the CDA, online for faculty review for ten business days. 

  • Any objections should be sent to John St Lawrence.  

  • The Curriculum Design & Assessment committee reviews any objections, and makes recommendations to the Associate Dean for Academic & Faculty Affairs, regarding how to address the objections. 

  • The Associate Dean will make final decisions as to how to resolve faculty objections to proposed curriculum changes. 

 

Deadlines for 2028-30 Catalog Proposals

  • October 1, 2026:  New credentials and significant changes to existing credentials

  • November 1, 2026:  Small changes to existing programs

Changes Requiring Legislative Approval

Proposals that affect either College academic policy or the requirements of an existing degree or degree program require approval through the legislative process. These include but are not limited to:

  • Changes to the requirements of an existing major or minor

  • Changes to the requirements of an honors program

  • Changes to the requirements of a transcript recognized certificate or a concentration

  • Changes to general degree requirements and academic policies

  • Adding or deleting a departmental honors program

Note:  Proposals for a new degree or degree program, or to delete an existing degree or degree program, also require approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. 

 

“Small changes” include but are not limited to: 

  • Changes to specified hours in an existing major, for instance due to changes in course inventory

  • Changes to grade requirements in specified hours

  • Changes to grade requirements in a departmental honors program

 

To submit: Save your copy of the Catalog Proposal Form using your Field of Study and Catalog Year in the file name. For example: ANS 2028-30; ANS-DH 2028-30; ANS minor 2028-30. Upload the completed Word .doc to COLA Catalog Upload Folder 2028-2030
