UT Computer Maintenance

Keep your UT computer online!

Between backup, file syncs, patching, antivirus monitoring, and other things your computer does in the background, a regular network connection to campus is essential for its health.  

UT Computers MUST be connected to the UT network (on campus or via VPN) for at least once every 30 days

University computers are required to install regular security updates at least every 30 days.  Also, some services like backup will orphan/lose connection to a client if it is offline too long.  IT staff will try to notify users if their machine passes the 30-day mark, but any system that continues to be offline for more than 60 days will be considered to have broken services and need to be wiped and reinstalled to be brought back into working status.
