Sending emails from your site (WP Mail SMTP)
Whether you’re using a plugin like Amelia or have a simple contact form on your site, you need to set up SMTP in some capacity. WordPress uses PHP to send emails by default, which are often sent straight to spam by major email providers, so this isn’t a reliable method.
The best method we found was to use the plugin “WP Mail SMTP” which gives you a variety of options to set this up. “Google/Gmail” was a great option for us, as we weren’t going to be sending out very many emails. Google Cloud services gives you enough free credit to easily facilitate a small volume of emails per month, so this was virtually free.
Once you set up this plugin, you’ll likely have to change some settings in each plugin that will be sending emails.
