"Improving Instruction in the Natural Sciences"
Abstract: I will discuss several initiatives that that have been created by the Discovery Learning Project in Natural Sciences in an effort to improve instruction and learning for students in Natural Science courses. These initiatives include the Discovery Learning lunch seminar series, the New Faculty and Teaching Strategies Workshop CNS, and the newly created Natural Sciences: Talking about Teaching discussion Forum. The history and philosophy behind these initiatives will be presented as well as their connection to the recently formed Center for Inquiry in Mathematics and Science.
