    • The U.S. interlaced standard

    • 30 fps (actually 29.97), or 60 fields

    • Two interlaced fields per frame

    • Lines are interlace scanned (all odd lines followed by even lines)

    • 525 horizontal lines (480 effectively)

  • PAL/SECAM:

    • 25 fps (50 fields)

    • 625 horizontal interlaced lines (576 effectively)

  • HDTV

    • 720 or 1080 horizontal lines/vertical pixels

    • Interlaced (1080 only)

    • Frame rates: 23.98p, 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p, 60p, 50i, 59.94i, 60i

    • Progressive (720 and 1080). All lines placed on screen sequentially.
