Objective vs. Subjective Sound
Distinguish objective physical sound and subjective psychoacoustics. For us to hear a sound, two things must happen
The sound is generated and the objective worlds acts on it
That world is represented inside our minds by the processes of hearing and perception
Important because with a sound for film or television, we need to know if there is a physical problem with a physical solution, or does the problem require an adjustment to accommodate human listening
*Subjective sound* is sound that the character hears inside their minds. It is personal
*Objective sound* is sound that the physical world inside the film generates. it is literal.
