  • *Boom:* long pole with a mic at the end. Can be elaborate devices with wheels and gears

    • *Fishpole:* a simple pole held by the boom operator

  • *Stands:* usually only when it would be appropriate

  • *Hidden Mics*

  • *Lavalieres:* very small mics that attach to clothing or hide in small areas like car visors (problem is clothing rustle)

  • *Wireless:* mic has a small antenna or a transmitter pack that can be hidden in a pocket or clipped to a belt (sends audio signal to a receiver that can be far away and attached to a DAT or other recorder)
