Advising

Advising is required for all students not in candidacy.  Advising for the spring semester typically occurs in October, and advising for the summer and fall semesters typically occurs in March. Advising appointment slots will be posted on Canvas approximately two weeks before the week of advising and are reserved by students on a first-come-first-serve basis.

You should complete the Program of Work Worksheet and review your IDP in preparation for advising. You should also be prepared to report your plans for graduate student employment (even if they are tentative) for the next semester.

Students in candidacy are not required to complete advising, but should communicate with the GPC in a timely manner to request to be enrolled in dissertation hours, and to review procedures and deadlines for dissertation defense and graduation.Â
