What To Know: Borrowing Costumes As COFA Student, Staff, or Faculty

Before making an appointment plan ahead. It’s important to have a good idea of what you’re looking for before you make an appointment as well as your actor measurements. As a College of Fine Arts student or Faculty, you are required to sign a contract sent via Docusign. We do not loan costumes for events or holidays.

Appointments:

  • Make an appointment at least 24 hours in advanced by emailing us at utcostumerental@gmail.com
  • An appointment board is located to the right of the Stock Cage door but please also email us for an appointment
  • Appointments are an hour long
  • WE DO NOT TAKE WALK-INS

Contracts

  • Contracts will be sent via DocuSign, if there are issues please let stock management know and we will provide a paper copy at your appointment
  • A faculty contact must be provided for student borrowers

What can’t be borrowed

Costume Stock Management reserves the right to refuse any item for loan or rental.

  • Shoes
  • Jewelry and glasses
  • Fur
  • Green Tag Items
  • Hosiery
  • Hats (Stock Supervisor must approve)

Theft and Responsibility:

Items loaned to you are your responsibility and must be held in a secure location under lock and key. Lockers are located in the Winship building in the Brockett Dressing rooms and the 2nd floor bathroom. Under no circumstances should costumes be left visible in a car, in a classroom or studio. Items lost or stolen will be the responsibility of the borrower who will be charged the value of items lost.

Returning Items

  • A return date will be negotiated at the time of the rental.
  • If the renter cannot return costumes at the agreed date the renter MUST contact the Stock supervisor or pay the late fee.
  • Items borrowed must be returned with all alterations, safety pins and show labels removed.
  • Items used for projects MUST BE CLEANED. For items dry cleaned the renter MUST PROVIDE RECIPTS.
