Logistics - Admissions
These are Liz's original instructions for the admissions process. Below are my additional notes and corrections.
Logistics - Admissions
All students must be admitted to UT in order to register for the summer class. If a student has attended UT for one
semester during the previous long session, they are a current student at UT. Students who do not fulfill this
requirement must seek Transient Admission or Readmission.
Transient Admission - for all students who have never been admitted to UT
Application is available at https://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/transient-admission
Readmission - for all students who have attended UT at some point in the past
Application is available at https://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/readmission
Email all students the appropriate application and ask them to submit their completed application through the
Apply Texas application portal by UT’s deadline May 1.
As part of their application, they will need to pay the $60 admission fee. They will not be admitted unless the
fee has been paid.
Students can check their application status at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/adm/mystatus/
Check in with the students and Valerie to confirm the successful admission of all students.
Double check EIDs of all transient students (Send “Confirmation of Transient Admission” email)
This email also address the issue of bars. Most newly admitted students will have bars that will prevent them
from being able to register. These bars may include advising and proof of the meningitis vaccine.
Once all students are admitted, the registration can begin.
A couple of useful UT contacts in this process are:
Lisa Lockhart (Senior Admissions Councelor) email: lisa.lockhart@mail.utexas.edu phone: 512.475.7399 and
512.475.7344
Valerie Atwood, staff member in the Admissions Office. Her number is 512.475.7365.
Allison Calnan at 512.475.7369 handles readmission applications
Below are Liz's original instructions. Allison's additional notes/edits can be found underneath.
Allison's notes
- Students should not make an EID before applying via Apply Texas, they will create one in the process
- Only students who were previous full-time students at UT should use the readmission application.
- Students who were previously visiting students should apply as a visiting student again.
- Kathy Romberg has been my contact for 2023 and has been very helpful.
