Superceded Recital Program Instructions
SUPERCEDED Recital Program Instructions
PROGRAM GUIDELINES
After you have approved your recital date, you will be able to create and print your own recital program online. The Butler School of Music will provide 50 copies of a printed program for your recital, but you must follow these simple guidelines.
- You must submit your REQUEST for the departmental program service at least two (2) weeks prior to your recital date!
- You can submit and edit the repertoire information online or PREFERABLY by emailing the recital program intern at any time up until 8 days before the date of your recital, but if you do not complete the following procedure by TWO weeks before your recital, then the school will not produce your printed programs. You would then be responsible for producing and printing them yourself.
How to Create a Program
- Make sure your recital has been confirmed, or the options for creating a program will not appear on your computer.
- Make sure that you are running the most current version of your web browser software.
- Log on to the BSOM website: http://www.music.utexas.edu
- Click on Create Program, which is under Recital Management on the right side of the page. Your recital should appear under the "Programs" heading in the middle of the page.
- Click on Edit Program at the left of the listing for your recital.
- Use the various pop-up options and fill in all of the blanks to complete the performer and repertoire information for your recital program. Refer to the Program Style and Formatting Guide for style and formatting rules.
To add accompanists and additional musicians:
- Click on the Add More Information link, located just below your recital heading.
Enter your information in the text box.
Click Update Front Page.
You may also add performers specific to each piece in the section where repertoire is submitted (see below).
To add individual pieces, performers, and an intermission:
Use the Select Field pop-up menu to choose an item.
Fill in the boxes for each particular piece.
Click Add New Field. The information will now appear in program formatting.
Repeat these steps for each piece you wish to add.
To change the order of your pieces:
- Use the number pop-ups to re-order the program.
To add program notes
- Click on Add Back Page at the bottom of your repertoire.
Important!! The School of Music will NOT include Program Notes in your printed programs. Program Notes will only be viewable on the web. If you choose, you may make your own copies of program notes for distribution at your recital.
Final Step
When you have completed providing all information for your program, check the box marked Completed. This final action will also send your program information to our staff so that they can produce your printed programs. At this point, your program will also be proofed and displayed on the web.
Important!! The information you submit will be used by BSOM staff to properly format and print programs for your recital. The printed programs will NOT look exactly like the online version of the program.
How to Make Changes
- After marking your program "Complete," you may still edit and make changes to your online program. Simply log in again and follow steps 4-7 above.
- Be aware that any changes made after the 8 day deadline will NOT appear on your final printed program!
Web View
When your program is visible on the BSOM website, then you will know that it is in the process of being printed. Programs submitted after the two week deadline will still be proofed by our staff and displayed on the web.
Pick Up Your Programs
You will receive an email from our staff notifying you when your printed programs are available to be picked up in the Music Services Center.
We hope that most of you choose to submit your information online and within the deadline so that we can produce your programs for you. However, this is by no means a mandatory policy and you are still free to produce and print programs on your own if you prefer. If you wish to produce your own printed program but still have it appear on the web, then simply wait until the four-week deadline has passed before entering your program information online.
