Data Downloads

Data may be downloaded in both KML and CSV formats only after registration. At this time, users are only able to download up to 10,000 records at once. Users needing to download more than 10,000 records should write queries in such a way as to retrieve those records in two or more downloads. For example, a query for a river basin containing more than 10,000 records can be divided into several smaller queries by also limiting on county, institutions or smaller date ranges. CSV downloads can then be reassembled outside of our website to achieve a comprehensive data set.

Critical note to users: Users downloading KML files should know that records containing a suspect specimen note are downloaded, but those notes are not available at this time and there is no indication of such records when viewing in Google Earth. We recommend that interested users download CSV files or use our interactive mapping feature under our Map tab to identify those records.

Get the Data from GBIF

Our data are also provided on the Global Biodiversity Information Facility GBIF here.  Serious users of our data may prefer to use the more robust data search and download features of there.
