Changing Arc Lamps

The ThAr and UNe arc lamps are mounted inside the calibration box.

We have spares of both of these on the IGRINS cart.

When the lamps are replaced you have to be careful not to over tighten the mounting bracket and break the lamp. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FASTENERS FULLY!

Use the alignment bar, as shown below, to ensure that the face of the lamp is properly aligned before the bracket is tightened. You will need to repeat this a few times.

Baffles have been installed in front of the lamps to reduce the brightness. These need to be adjusted for different lamps.
