General Information - Know Before You Go

General Information

  1. The team captain and all players are responsible for all information contained in the Playing Rules, the Eligibility page, Sportsmanship page, and the specific sport’s event webpage on UTRecSports.org. 

  2. Participants must have a valid photo ID with them at all times.

  3. Players should have checked in, shown ID, warmed up, and be ready to play prior to the scheduled game time.

  4. Each team shall designate to the official a team captain(s) for the contest. The captain is required to sign the scorecard at the end of each game verifying the final score, and that all participating players have been checked in.

Equipment and Uniforms

Sport specific equipment information can be found on the Wiki rules page for said sport. 

  1. Game ball

    1. Teams must supply their own game ball

    2. Equipment may be checked out from the facility desk

    3. Teams may bring their own ball 

  2. Jerseys/Shirts

    1. Teams are required to wear similar colored jerseys or t-shirts.

      1. Home team wears white

      2. Visitor team wears a matching dark color

      3. NO yellow shirts may be worn

    2. No knotting or tying of jerseys or shirts

    3. Jerseys may be provided ONLY for basketball - participants are highly encouraged to provide their own

  3. Apparel

    1. All players must wear athletic apparel appropriate for their sport

    2. NO exposed metal or plastic (jeans, khakis, cargo shorts/pants, etc. with rivets, zippers, buttons)

    3. Shirts may have short or long sleeves

    4. NO hoods, zippers, or any other dangerous adornments

    5. If a player is bleeding, or if any of their clothing is stained with blood, they must be removed from the contest until an Intramural Staff member clears them to play. 

  4. Footwear

    1. ONLY athletic type footwear appropriate for the sport may be worn

    2. NO sandals, boots, bare feet, or five-finger shoes are allowed

    3. Field Sports at WWF

      1. Soccer/football, running, court, or turf shoes with or without molded plastic or rubber cleats are allowed

      2. Cleats must be less than ½ inch

      3. NO metal/sharp plastic cleats are allowed

    4. Indoor Sports at GRE or RSC

      1. Athletic shoes with non-marking court soles

      2. NO Hard sole shoes of any kind will be permitted

  5. Headwear

    1. NO hard brimmed hats, bandannas, or sunglasses 

    2. NO other types of headwear with knots or dangerous material are allowed

    3. Soft hats such as knit beanies and bucket hats are allowed given they have no hard plastic or metal

  6. Religious Headwear

    1. In the event a participant may not expose his/her uncovered head, the Intramural Sports Director may approve a covering or wrap which is not abrasive, hard, or dangerous to any other player and which is attached in such a way it is highly unlikely to come off during play.

    2. Hard items including, but not limited to, beads, barrettes, and bobby pins are prohibited

  7. Jewelry

    1. NO exposed jewelry of any type

    2. Medical-alert and religious medals are not considered jewelry

    3. Medical-alert medals must be taped and may be visible

    4. Religious medals must be taped and worn under the uniform

      1. religious medals must be approved prior to participating in any contest

      2. A cross would not be considered a religious medal for the purposes of this rule.

  8. Special Event Wristbands

    1. If participating in a special event that requires a participant to wear a wristband (ex. OU or ACL wristbands), it is the player's responsibility to provide an acceptable method to cover the wristband.

    2. The ONLY acceptable methods are: sweat bands or athletic tape, which will NOT be provided by RecSports

  9. Casts, Splits, Braces, and Kneepads

    1. NO casts/splints will be allowed under any circumstances 

    2. Knee braces covered in ¼ inch foam and covered kneepads are allowed
