Playoffs

General Announcements

1. New for Fall 2026: Playoff captains meetings will no longer be held. Team captains whose teams qualify for postseason play will be notified and can select their bracket placement through IMLeagues.

2. Tentative brackets will be posted in advance of playoff selection. Final brackets will be available when bracket selection opens.

3. All players who did not participate in at least one pool play game will not be eligible for the playoffs. Captains should check the online roster the day in which they select their spot on the bracket to verify which players are eligible for the playoffs. In case of error, please submit the name, UT EID, and dates participated to the Intramural Sports email account ASAP. 

4. Teams that do not play all scheduled matches are subject to removal from playoff contention.

5. Ties for qualifying postseason spots are broken by total number of points allowed.

Playoff Selection Policies

1. Qualifying teams will select a spot on the bracket in order of finish based on record, points allowed, and either score differential, set ratio, or sportsmanship score depending on the sport.

2. Teams not present at their designated time will be skipped in the selection process, and placed in the bracket at a later time.

3. Please select carefully while looking at the entire bracket to ensure your team can participate in all scheduled games.

Playoff Game Policies 

1. Teams must receive a minimum sportsmanship grade of “C” in order to advance. Teams receiving multiple “C” grades during the tournament are subject to removal.

2. All players on any team receiving an “F” in sportsmanship or whose game is ended for unsporting conduct may be suspended for the entire tournament for all teams and for all sports.

3. Any player ejected from any game for unsporting conduct may be suspended for the entire tournament for all teams in all sports pending a reinstatement meeting.

4. Any player receiving a cumulative total of TWO unsporting conduct fouls during the playoffs (in all sports combined) will be automatically suspended from further play on any team pending a meeting with the Intramural Director. The player will be disqualified from the game at the time they receive their 2nd cumulative unsporting conduct foul.

5. The Inclement Weather Website is the best place to check for weather updates. Please do not assume games will be canceled. If games are canceled due to inclement weather the team captain should check their email and the brackets posted online for the updated schedule.

6. Teams are able to view their assigned field or court by checking your schedule on IMLeagues.

Playoff Spot Selection Dates

There will be no playoff meeting. Any person may select your team’s bracket spot as long as they are on the roster and are a designated captain/co-captain on IMLeagues.
