Non-payroll Direct Deposit

Non-payroll Direct Deposit

What is Non-payroll Direct Deposit?

Any direct deposit paid to you which is not related to your salary is "non-payroll direct deposit." The system for non-payroll direct deposits for UT students and employees is separate from the payroll system. So, if it is your first time receiving a payment of this type, you may need to complete authorization paperwork, even though you may have submitted the same information previously to Payroll.

Non-payroll direct deposit must be set up in order to process items like:

  • refunds,

  • travel reimbursements,

  • entertainment reimbursements,

  • cash scholarship payments,

  • etc.

How to Complete the Authorization

Direct deposit information can be established or updated on UT Direct:

  1. To go My Bank Information.

  2. For non-payroll payments, complete the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) section.

  3. Click "I Authorize" to record your changes.

Do I Have to Use Direct Deposit?

No. You don't have to use direct deposit, though most people prefer it.

If you don't want to use it, or if you don't have an authorization on file, you can choose to receive non-payroll payments via a physical check. You can choose to have it mailed to your physical address or to pick it up in person at the in the Main Building (MAI).
