DCs on Campus
The DCs on campus are grouped into the following categories: campus DCs, public DCs, service DCs
Do not use domain controller hostnames when configuring applications to access the Austin Active Directory. The Austin Active Directory provides supported hostnames for application access: Active Directory Hostnames
Do not use domain controller IP addresses when configuring firewall rules for accessing the Austin Active Directory. The Austin Active Directory provides supported IP address ranges for firewall rules: Active Directory Networks
Campus DCs
The campus DCs are designed to support authentication and authorization for domain-joined devices on campus.
The campus DCs are in the Default-First-Site-Name site and use Austin CA certificates.

Public DCs
The public DCs are designed to support domain-joined devices hosted on public IPs on non-UT networks. At present, no customers are leveraging the public DCs.
The public DCs are in the Austin-Public site and use Austin CA certificates.

Service DCs
The service DCs are designed to support load balanced LDAP access to the Austin Active Directory via the directory.austin.utexas.edu hostname.
The service DCs are in the Austin-Services site and use InCommon certificates.
