Travel Policy for International Locations

Travel Policy for International Locations

All students traveling to international locations on UT business, including collaborations and conferences, should complete the Authorization to Travel Abroad. This gives students travel insurance, which costs $19 weekly, and also ensures support from the Study Abroad office if the student encounters a crisis while travelling.

Student International Travel Policy

Travel to Restricted Regions

Students who travel to Restricted Regions must receive approval from the International Oversight Committee before traveling, even if the location is their home country.

Students will be required to demonstrate IOC approval as part of their final graduation paperwork. Students must submit this form whether they traveled to a restricted region or not.  If the student did conduct research in a restricted region, they must also provide documentation of their IOC approval.

Although the form will be submitted as part of the student's final paperwork for graduation, approval by the IOC is required before the student travels to the restricted region. If a student travelled to a restricted region but did NOT secure IOC approval beforehand, the student must come into compliance with the IOC before they can graduate.

The International Oversight Committee maintains a list of restricted regions, and updates the list quarterly.
