(Visiting Researchers and Scholars)
This process grants facilities access to nonemployee researchers or scholars temporarily at UT Austin. The designation “Research Affiliate” is a privilege accorded to nonemployee researchers or scholars temporarily in residence at The University of Texas at Austin. T
If you would like to bring in a Visiting Researcher/ Scholar, please complete the visitor request form, found here: Visitor Request Form
Here are the steps:
1. Fill out the Visitor Request Form.
2. Email the visitor's CV to the department manager, specifying their researcher type.
3. Refer to the "Procedures for Research Titles" document for detailed information on Research Affiliate types, qualifications, and approval process.
4. The request will be reviewed and submitted to the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).
5. If the researcher/scholar is a foreign national, the department manager will contact Texas Global to initiate the visa process.
6. After OVPR review and confirmation, the department may send an offer letter to the researcher/scholar.
7. Once accepted, all parties sign the Offer Letter and Nonemployee Research Affiliate Agreement.
8. The department manager contacts the visitor to complete the hiring process.
