What is a Secondary Account

In Engineering, Faculty and others with special circumstances can obtain a secondary domain account that has administrative privileges on their UT Windows computer.  This account should NEVER be used for daily work.  It should be used sparingly and cautiously.  You can use this account to install software from well-known and trusted vendors.   Please see Using Engineering Windows Administrator Account for more detailed information.

Please contact the Engineering Service Desk to request an account. Once an account is created for you, you will need to claim the account and set the password.

Accounts names are of the form, your EID prefixed by your department.  For example,

  • dept-YourEID
    • me-abc1234
    • engr-dfg7890
