How to operate the Minivator Large Light Stand

The Matthews Minivator II is a large light stand that can extend to 12 feet tall.

Its MAXIMUM load is 80lbs. This light stand will be equipped with a CineLight 400 LED Panel

How to set up the Minivator Stand with CineLight 400

 

 

 

First, move the light to the desired location.

Next, lock all three wheels.

Now, plug in the power cord hanging from the hook on the stand.

The power cord for the light will already be plugged in to the quad-box mounted on the light stand. Use the power cord hanging on the hook and plug it into a powered outlet.

Before raising the light, Remove bundled cord from the velcro strap holding the cord to the light’s handle.

Don’t forget to POWER the unit ON before raising the light.

Now that the light is on, Loosen the handle-knobs on the sides of the light and position the light to suit your scene.

There are two turn knobs on backside of the column. Make sure both of these are loose. These knobs are used to lock the column in place. If these are tightened, the column can not be operated with the crank handle. Double check that these are loose.

You are now ready to raise the light to the desired height.

 

Secure the stand with one hand, and with your other hand use the crank handle to slowly raise the light.

 

*NOTE: DO NOT let go of the handle while the stand is in motion. Come to a complete stop before letting go of the handle.

The final step is to make fine adjustments to your lighted scene. Using a ladder, loosen the handle knobs on the sides of the light and reposition the angle to best suit your scene.

 

NOTE: WHILE ON THE LADDER, YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL SAFETY PROTOCOLS. YOU MUST KEEP THREE POINTS OF CONTACT ON THE LADDER AT ALL TIMES.

When shooting for the day has concluded, reverse the steps to tear down the light.

  • Slowly lower the light using the crank handle (Go slow. Do not release the handle while in motion.)

  • Turn light OFF

  • Unplug power cord from wall/outlet. Wrap power cable back up and hang on the hook

  • Wrap the light’s power cord back up and use the velcro strap to secure cord to handle on the light

  • Unlock all three wheels

  • Return light stand to its original location
