ProCard Policies and Procedures
What is a ProCard?
A ProCard (Procurement Card) is a university-issued credit card used for low-dollar, low-risk business purchases. It streamlines purchasing for allowable items while ensuring compliance with UT Austin policy.
How to Check Out the ProCard
Faculty: Request the card from Faramola at the SCL FAC front desk.
Staff: Email sclbiz@utexas.edu to request the card.
NOTE: All users must sign the checkout log when borrowing the card.
Sales Tax:
UT Austin is exempt from Texas state sales tax.
When purchasing from vendors located in Texas, you must bring and provide the Tax Exemption Certificate so sales tax is not charged.
Purchases from out-of-state vendors may still include sales tax, since the exemption applies only in Texas.
Rules for Use
Review the full list of Disallowed ProCard Purchases.
Card must be used only for approved, business-related expenses.
Do not share the card with anyone else.
Returning the Card
Return the ProCard as soon as possible (within one business day of borrowing)
Submit a signed, itemized receipt with the card at the time of return.
Sign the return log to complete the checkout process.
Users with outstanding itemized/signed receipts, OOEFs, or other required documentation cannot check out or use the SCL credit cards again until all documentation is complete and submitted.
