Printing
HDFS offers both color / black & white printing for faculty, staff and students. Following the protocol below ensures that the printing needs of the overall department are met. This also helps us maintain and sustain this resource for everyone.
The Ricoh printer is intended primarily for instructional use.
The Dell color printer is primarily for admin use. Color ink cartridges are very expensive.
The wider department can occasionally use the color printer for small printing jobs (5 pages or less).
The department can support research related printing on the Ricoh (NOT the Dell color printer) within reason.
Poster Printing and big print jobs (e.g. 50 pages or more) will need to be outsourced to Document Solutions. They offer direct billing to UT accounts or self pay.
The University of Texas at Austin Libraries is no longer offering Poster or large job printing.
Connect to HDFS SEA 1.432 Ricoh or Dell Printer/Copier/Scanner to your computer:

In Control Panel select 'Printers and Scanners'
Select 'Add a printer' at the top right
Select 'The printer that I want isn't listed'
Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or host name' [Click 'Next']
For IP address, type 172.17.89.6 and allow the Port Name to autocomplete [Click 'Next']
Ensure 'Query the printer and automatically select driver to use' is checked [Click 'Next']
Windows should automatically detect the correct driver. If not, select 'Windows Update' and browse to: Ricoh IM 6000 CFL6 V4 JPN or SEA 1.432: Ricoh IM 6000 [Click 'Next']
Name the printer [Click 'Next']
Choose to share or not [Click 'Next']
The printer should be added [Click 'Finish']
Dell
In Control Panel select 'Printers and Scanners'
Select 'Add a printer' at the top right
Select 'The printer that I want isn't listed'

Name the printer [Click 'Next']
