Spark Retirement: How to Save Your Agent Instructions
UT Spark will be retired on July 1, 2026. If you have built custom agents or configured system prompts in Spark, follow the steps below to save that work before the shutdown date so you can recreate your agents on other platforms.
What Are Agent Instructions?
In UT Spark, agents are custom AI assistants you configure with a specific persona, set of instructions, or area of focus. These are typically defined through a system prompt — a block of text that tells the AI how to behave, what to focus on, and how to respond.
Your system prompt and any configuration notes are not automatically exported, so you will need to copy them manually.
Steps
1. Open your agent in UT Spark.
Navigate to the agent you want to save. Click on “Edit” within the interface.
2. Locate the system prompt or instructions field.
This is labeled "Specific" under Agent Instructions. It contains the text that shapes how the agent behaves.
3. Copy the full text.
Select all of the text in the instructions field and copy it. We recommend pasting it into a document you can save locally, such as a Word file, a text file, or a note in OneNote.
4. Record any other configuration details.
If your agent has a name, a specific setting, other customizations, note those as well. This will make it easier to recreate the agent on another platform.
5. Repeat for each agent you want to keep.
If you have multiple agents, complete steps 1 through 4 for each one.
Recreating Your Agent After July 1, 2026
Once UT Spark is retired, you can use your saved instructions to set up a new agent in other platforms.
